Anniversary Runs

It seems fair to say (and we would say it even were it not) that we had a success for our anniversary runs. The highlight was certainly the Saturday run ( the real anniversary -- #25 -- run!). Perhaps the only glitch was the weather which was far to pleasant for a hashing event. This only slightly off-put some of the participants who had prayed for a sloshing day. A supportive contingent from Toronto and Ottawa HHHs showed up to revel with the locals (they also found time and were courteous enought to participate in the run). Sadly, many either departed by the time Sunday's run commenced or were too hungover from Saturday night to manage the trek to Mont Royal.

Highlights

Nice creek-crossing mid-run - got everyone wet (yes, it was that good!). Rose-eh? from Toronto HHH ended up face down in it (so I'm told) - only moment I suppose (fleeting thought it was) that her mouth was shut during the entire weekend.

Who answers to a name like that ? A great hashing name --- Bird Brain (Toronto HHH). A one point prior to most of us knowing this guy's hash name, Dead Animal called out "Hey Bird Brain!" there by causing much confusion as a bunch of us turned around to see what he wanted. Who answers to a name like that? Now we know.

"We ah waweahs" - perhaps the best thing I have ever seen at a hash. I am only hoping that someone got this on video - it belongs in the Montreal HHH achives, on the Web, in the bathroom ....

Numerous bawdy chansons by Rose-eh? of Toronto HHH - does this women have a mouth? I mean a voice or what ? I had the opportunity to copy down one of the none bawdy ones. We were told that we needed to add to our repertoire - installment 1 is presented (for your viewing enjoyment) on the next page.

Speaking of Rose-eh?

Enthusiasm? A non-native english speaker (by which I mean both someone who is both not a native and someone whose other tongue is not english) once suggested that a person he knew was really "enthusiasthmatic" -- a word that english should adopt in my view. The strength of this language -- and perhaps one reason why it dominates -- lies partially in its LACK of barriers to change - its willingness to accept new formulations of words and words from other languages (is there a lesson here?). In this candidate for english status, "enthusiasthmatic" clearly represents someone who is so enthusiastic that he/she loses his/her breath as a consequence. A striking metaphore I hope you agree. Vote for adoption?

The (Historic) 27th Run

(editors note: Lucifer and Yogi's Hash from Hell)

Run #27 was set by Lucifer and Yogi on October 20th, a day that will live in infamy. So they got a little lost in the woods; so they had everyone traipsing around for nearly 3 hours; so they had 3000 meters of verticle climbing interspersed throughout; didn't we have fun?..... Well then......wasn't it a great view from the top? Hah!!! and isn't it nice to get a fre commemorative T-shirt? Je me souviens?

Hash Stones

(Sung to the Flintstones melody)

Hash-Stones -- meet the Hash-stones

They're the biggest drunks in history.

From the -- town of Montreal

they're the leaders in debauchery.

Half - minds -- trailing shiggy* through the years;

watch them, as they down a lot of beers,

Down, down -- down, down, down,down,

Down, down -- down, down, down, down, down, down, down

Down, down ...........etc.**

* Hash shit, stuff, paraphernalia?

** no, you do not say "etc." here.

HARES NEEDED !!!!!!!!!
(yes, you)

We would like to keep the hash running through out the winter. Check your calendars and pencil in a Weekend that you would be available as a hare. If we could plan serveral hashes in advance it would make life a little easier for your hash commitee. If you haven't been a hare before, we can pair you with someone who has. We have non-toxic, biodegradable dye to mix with the flour so that it will be visible in the snow. Bring your ideas to the next hash or e-mail me.  Remember, NO Hares - No Hash!!!

This edition of the hash trash was contributed by Yogi. Many thanks.
