for the Cedars Cancer Institute, Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal, Quebec

Starting from Moe's Deli & Bar in Pointe Claire on the West Island!

MONTREAL, Quebec, (Trash Wire) September 1, 2001 - The Montreal Hash House Harriers  held its 5th Annual Red Dress Run on Sunday, August 26th, 2001.  The run began at 1PM in the parking lot in front of Moe's Deli and Bar in Pointe-Claire.  

Over 50 participants joined us this year, all of them wearing red dresses and running shoes.  This year we welcomed participants from Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary and Burlington, Vermont.  Special guests included Aaron Rand and Jason Devine of Q92 Lite Rock.

The trail, expertly laid by veteran hashers Dead Animal and Foxy Lady, led the pack through the quiet bedroom communities of Pointe Claire and Dollard des Ormeaux.  The 10km trail included some treacherous fence climbing and a pool stop at the Poutine Ranch, decked out in furniture and refreshments donated by Labatt's, Coors Brewery, and Super C.   A second stop took the pack to Marlowe's Restaurant where a donated keg of McAuslin's finest was awaiting for the runners.

Over $5000 was raised this year for the Cedars Cancer Institute, Royal Victoria Hospital.  Funds were raised from corporate sponsors, the Quilt raffle and the Fun Auction.  Donations came as far away as Geebung Australia and Maidenhead England!

 Down-Downs were led by Numbskull who welcomed newcomers, returnees and out-of-towners.  

Out of Towner Plastic Jesus Riding on the Dashboard of my Car is seen demonstrating the versatility of his Viking headwear.

Prizes were awarded to best dressed (Homo Erection and Java the Slut) and worst dressed Easy Rider (attired in a red plastic table cloth fitted with duct tape) and Captain Hook (what's with the purple monkey?)

The 2001 Hash Quilt was raffled off.  The quilt was a labour of love spearheaded by Speed Hump, Foxy Lady, Turkish Delight  and the rest of the Stitch and Bitch committee. The quilt depicted the names, events and hash-lore of the Montreal Hash.  Lick-My-Lizard was the proud winner of this priceless heirloom.
